Lowering Food Prices, Fuelling Hope
& Building Community

Hope 58 Community Interest Company ("Hope 58" for short) is a newly established not-for-profit company set up to take over (from our friends at Life Vineyard Church) the running of a network of Pop Up Pantries in Newcastle, North Tyneside, Gateshead and Washington.

Each pantry is run by local volunteers in a community facility such as a school or church hall. Pantries typically each open for a weekly 2 hour session and sell a range of food and household items at around half of normal retail price.

More Than Just Food: Addressing Social Isolation

We operate in communities experiencing deprivation and recognise that hardship extends beyond just the cost of food. Our pantries are intentionally designed as friendly drop-in centers.

  • Affordable Access: Selling essential food and household items at around half of the normal retail price.

  • Welcoming Hubs: Offering free tea, coffee, and a safe space for a friendly chat, directly tackling social isolation.

  • Signposting Support: Connecting clients with other vital agencies to address specific, deeper needs beyond the pantry.

A Collaborative Future: Governance and Management

Hope 58 was formed to transition the Pop Up Pantry network from Life Vineyard into a new, collaborative model. This structure ensures sustainability, scalability, and shared ownership.

We manage the complex logistics - sourcing and distributing stock, providing IT infrastructure, and comprehensive volunteer training - allowing our partner organisations who host the pantries to take a leading role in the governance, strategic management, and development of the network. This shared approach strengthens our community impact.
